Guinness World Records Pavilion now open!

A few hours before the GWR Pavilion had even opened on 12th November the record breaking began at Global Village!

The record for the most children reading with an adult was set at Global Village in celebration of Guinness World Records Day 2008. A staggering 3,032 children from Kindergarten Starters school were read to simultaneously by their teachers. Even though it was a hot and humid day (not uncommon in Dubai I guess) the children were in good spirits and thrilled to set a new Guinness World Records record.

The eagerly awaited GWR Pavilion opened later that afternoon and was an instant success with adults and children alike. There was plenty of practice and official attempts during the first week.

So far 12 GWR records have been set/broken or equalled at the GWR Pavilion. These records included the Fastest game of Operation, Most shoelaces tied in one minute, Most beads threaded in one minute and Most CD’s flipped!

There are still lots of records that need to broken, one of my favourites being the long standing record for the loudest shout which stands at 121.7 dBA. This is similar to standing behind a jet taking off! The best part about this record is the fact that you have to shout the word ‘quiet’ as loud as you can. This is proving very popular with visitors to the sound booth but no one has come close to the current record as yet……
