Largest Three-legged Race (Most Pairs)

On 10 January 2009,  a new world record, certified by Guinness World Records™, was set in Hong Kong, China for the largest three legged race (most pairs), with 80 pairs of lawyers – or 160 individuals – taking part. The lawyers were from the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Guangdong Lawyers Association and the Macau Lawyers Association.

The attempt took place at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macau lawyers Athletic meet 2009. All the lawyers were very excited to being taken part in the attempt. Before the race, every two lawyers tied their chosen ankles together to form one three-legged pair and then began practising that characteristic three-legged style of running.

After the signal, the participants started the race, which covered 200 m (656 ft). The runners had great fun, and when the last pair reached the ending line, everyone cheered for them.

When Guinness World Records Adjudicator Angela Wu announced a new record and presented the certificate to the representatives of the associations, all of those present broke into loud applause. After the record-breaking event, the participants went on to take part in other competitions at the sports meet.
