Largest Waltz

A new Guinness World Records™ achievement for the largest waltz was certified in Bath, UK, on Sunday, 3 May 2009.

In the Abbey Square, nestled between the beautiful Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, 315 couples waltzed their way into the record books, smashing the previous record of 242 pairs, which had been set in Vienna, Austria, in April 2008.

At an event organized as part of the Bath International Dance Festival, young and old alike joined in dance, fulfilling the requirement of dancing for five minutes without stopping, to the Forrest Gump soundtrack.

James Whitehead and Joanna Kucia – directors of the Bath International Dance Festival – were both delighted and relieved that their best-laid plans had all come to fruition on the day. They were presented with their certificate by Guinness World Records™ Adjudicator Katie Forde, who congratulated all concerned on a terrific achievement.
