Largest cupcake

What’s yellow and round but not the sun? A cupcake that’s loaded with frosting and fun!

Sugary disclaimer aside, Minnesotan pastry chef JodiLee Knops helped Cakes.com bake up a sweet treat fit to warrant the title of largest cupcake!

Collosal cupcake, meet cupcake

Baked over the course of 13 hours, the 68.36-kg (150-lb 11.2-oz) creation stood 30.48 cm (12 in) tall, spread 60.96 cm (24 in) wide and was decorated to resemble Nickelodeon network’s cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants. Guinness World Records'™ Adjudicator Danny Girton Jr was on hand to offiicially recognize the achievement as a GWR record.

The fudge-filled cupcake was created as part of Mall of America’s SpongeBob SquarePants' 10th anniversary celebration.

JodiLee adds decorative flair to her achievement

According to event organizers, the scaled-up cupcake could yield 1,500 servings.

No matter how you serve up JodiLee’s achievement, she has her recipe for success down pat!

  • True it doesn't quite look like a cupcake... I agree...

  • Hi there bagelfairy. It doesn't look like we have a claim for that cupcake unveiled at Covent Garden. If you know someone involved in that event, then we would love to hear from them, and they can register the details here.

Records are there to be broken, and we're always delighted to hear of new challengers!

  • What a joke---that cupcake doesn't look like a real cupcake, and it isn't even half of the size of the one they had a Covent Garden, which is definitively the largest cupcake in the world.
