The record attempt was organised by a local group, ‘Pena el Embudo’, who celebrated their 10th Anniversary on the day.  The event was part of weeklong celebrations to mark traditions commenced in this historical town several centuries ago. The scarves were lined throughout the town, with every registered participant standing over his scarf, waiting to become part of yet another bit of history for Cuellar.

Very hospitable and welcoming population of Cuellar were enjoying the occasion, despite having to wait for the measurements to take place.  Thousands of people lined the streets to witness and participate in the record attempt, cheering on the official Guinness World Records judge, Aleksandr Vypirailenko, who came to adjudicate the record attempt.

The event was very well organised and everything went according to plan on the day, despite a very late finish. It will take an extraordinary organisation and dedication from the next contender in order to beat this record.

Once again – congratulations to all of the people of Cuellar!
