Longest marathon playing baseball

On a sunny Sunday afternoon an enthusiastic crowd in a lovely ballpark just outside the baseball crazy city of St. Louis, Missouri witnessed a two day baseball marathon reach its finale. The Guinness World Records™ record for the Longest Marathon Playing Baseball was smashed by nearly 15 hours. The full duration time was 48 hours, 9 minutes and 27 seconds.

Forty players had managed to keep a highly competitive all St. Louis baseball game going continuously through 2 very cold nights and 2 fun packed days to dramatically reclaim a record they had lost to a team from New York one year ago.

The effort that each and every player put in was fully appreciated by the crowds of well wishers some of whom also watched through the evenings. Guinness World Records™ adjudicator Michael Whitty was on hand to witness the inspirational feat, which was made all the more special with the impressive money raised for a local childrens hospital in the process.

Record setting team

Congratulations to all involved, particularly to the key organisers and team captains Steve Pona and Chuck Williams on a truly impressive world record.
