Most Motorcycle Back Flips in 30 Seconds

On the 2 October 2009, outside the world famous Bernabeu football stadium in Madrid, Spain, an exciting record attempt took place for the most motorcycle back flips in 30 seconds in an event organized by the Burn energy drink.

The current record was set by Travis Pastrana (USA) on the 17 November 2008 in the USA with a very impressive total of 8 back flips; José "Loco" Miralles (below, Spain) knew he had a difficult task ahead of him to beat it, however, after training very hard in preparation for this Burn Unlimited Event, he was confident that he could do it.

I watched José preparing the ramps to make sure they were perfect and the angles were precise ready for his takeoff, a crucial factor for his record attempt to stand any chance of been successful.

The event started at 9pm where crowds of people had come to watch this spectacular motorcycle show and to see the incredibly popular José. Burn had also conducted a competition to give a few lucky spectators the chance to win a brand new scooter. All the contestants had to run a circuit around the stunt ramps; the first to finish at the top of the main landing ramp was the winner.

In the build up to the main record attempt, José and the stunt team was performed a variety of jumps, tricks and riding skills for the crowds.

Unfortunately, José pulled a muscle in his leg during the exhibition jumps. Nevertheless, he was still willing to try and achieve his goal of becoming a Guinness World Records™ record holder; everyone watching could see how much he wanted to achieve this feat, however José’s leg was causing him too much pain and after his 6th back flip he was forced to retire from the attempt.

Despite this, the Burn event was still a big success, and after watching the very talented and impressive José, I know he will be back to attempt this world record again soon.
