One of the hottest tickets in entertainment was for a fiery 19 September spectacle in South Russell, Ohio, USA, orchestrated by professional stuntman Ted Batchelor (USA). Spectators of the evening fundraiser performance were treated to a full-on programme of premium pyrotechnics as 16 brave men and a woman united to help "burn off cancer." Fire licked off flailing arms and sizzling embers burned skyward off the fiery bodies of the 17 record-breaking volunteers; the excited audience belted out unrestrained encouragement to the record participants who marched on for 43.9 heart-racing seconds before their flames were finally extinguished. Guinness World Records adjudicator Danny Girton Jr. was present at the lakeside Plzak farm venue to witness Batchelor's custom fire performance and stilt-walking group “Ohio Burn Unit” and assorted local community members blaze a trail towards the new Guinness World Records™ title for most people performing full body burns.
Event sources announced that record attempt proceeds were to benefit cancer research.
