Statement: SMS Scam

It has recently come to our attention that an SMS scam is in operation in the UK, purporting to be endorsed and supported by Guinness World Records.

This scam falsely claims that GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS has selected the recipient out of thousands of phone numbers in Asia and Europe and that they have won a prize of £700,000. The sender then requires the recipient disclose personal information via email or SMS and send £630 to India before the prize can be collected.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS LIMITED is in no way connected to these SMS messages and strongly discourages recipients to disclose personal information and/or the sending of money to this organization.
