On 27 July 2008, Ipswich Central, which is responsible for the running of the Business Improvement District of Ipswich, Suffolk, UK, went yo-yo crazy by setting two different yo-yo records in one day.
The first attempt was set by Arron Sparks for the most “hop the fence” tricks in one minute. Arron set a new record with a staggering 144 in one minute. With this kind of talent, it is not surprising Arron was ranked fourth at the World Yo-Yo Contest at only 18 years of age.

The second record of the day was for the most people to yo-yo simultaneously. The previous record stood at 432 participants and had been set in Canada back in 2006.
Everyone taking part was very keen and had practised with their yo-yos to make sure their technique was up to scratch ready for the start of the attempt.
Arron entertained the crowd with amazing yo-yo tricks while Guinness World Records Adjudicator Laura Farmer verified the numbers with the organizers. It was very close, but Ipswich Central set a new record with 435 people – only three more than the previous record.

Organizers from Ipswich Central Management were very happy they had set a new record. Ipswich Central was now on the record-breaking map!
