YYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

To be honest, I don’t know exactly why GWR chose “Duelling Banjos”, but it’s damned hard to play it even slowly.I can play, for instance, sweep picking arpegios over chord changes really fast, (about 30 notes per second) but I can’t play this song at half of the speed required to beat José. I know (by the Internet, anyway) that many Guitar Players have made their claims for this record unsuccessfully: Steve Vai, Michaelangelo Batio, and Rana Hassan among them.I had the fortune to hear JdR live some time ago and I can affirm he is not only a speed demon but also the most versatile Guitarist I have ever met; truly an arsenal of techniques, including that “Chris Angel” trick that makes the pick appear in his hand just in time. Perhaps those skills made the difference playing this song. After all, he is the record holder since 2006. If sometime you find out exactly why Guinness chose that tune (and not other) to be performed by the competitors, please publish it, I’m sure many would like to know. Me included.-
