  • Statement from GWR

It has recently come to our attention that several chain letters are in general circulation purporting to be endorsed and supported by Guinness World Records.

Similarly, many pages on social networking websites such as Facebook claim that Guinness World Records has endorsed record attempts such as Largest Group, Most Members etc.

Please note Guinness World Records in no way supports any of these endeavours, nor do we lend our name, brand, registered trademark or services to them.

    Dear Guinness World Records Team,

I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but is it possible to have Facebook related records in the Guinness Worlds Records, such as most posts on a photo or something of the sort?

    Thank you,

    daJman

  • Sorry To Ask This...

    Just to be sure..

When i get a invitation to a group, where they say they are doing a Guinness attempt to break a world record with most users from like one country, its not real?

Even if they have a claim id?

Can you look up the claim id ?

  • Facebook record attempt.

Would Guinness books be willing to accept a record for a social network on facebook that has the most members that share 1 common name. Example: The group would have maybe like 4,000 members that all share the name "John Doe" ? I started a group a few days ago and only accept members who share the same legal name as mine. So far I am a long way off from having 4,000 members but I am off to a good start. If Guinness was willing to recognize such a record, Would they be willing to accept birth certifcate copies of all the members to prove the record was not a fraud? Would someone from Guinness skim through the members list to see that all the names are legite and are all differnt people? I created my facebook forum while goofing off but the idea has seemed to catch the eye of my group mates who like the idea that 1 name shared by multiple members could possibly appear in guinness books.

I, as well am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but how about facebook related records such as longest time spent (active) online, or something of that nature?

    Guiness Book of World Records:

Is there a record for the longest inbox message on Facebook? I have one and I was wondering how long the record was, and if it is an acceptable record.
