      <title>Oldest living man</title>
      <link>http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Oldest-living-man/BLOG/859291/7691.html</link>
      <description>Guinness World Records officially recognizes Walter Breuning, born on Sept. 21, 1896 in Melrose, Minnesota, USA, as the world&amp;rsquo;s oldest living man, following the death of Henry Allingham (UK), the previous holder in this category. Walter celebrated his 113th birthday at the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls, Montana on Monday September 21st and to help celebrate his longevity Guinness World Records sent a birthday card fashioned from the official certificate confirming his record breaking achievement. &#xD;
"It's incredible to think that Walter's one of few men able to remember when U.S. president McKinley was shot," said Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday. "And while he signed up to fight in World War I, he was TOO OLD to take part in World War II." &#xD;
Walter is in good health and attributes his longevity to a good balanced diet that helps to keep his weight low and his mental faculties sharp.&#xD;

      <title>Most players in a 24-hour guitar hero relay</title>
      <link>http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Most-players-in-a-24-hour-guitar-hero-relay/BLOG/714057/7691.html</link>
      <description>On 12 September 2009, citizens of the&amp;nbsp;city of Verona (Italy)&amp;nbsp;captured the record for the&amp;nbsp;most players in a&amp;nbsp;24-hour&amp;nbsp;Guitar Hero&amp;nbsp;relay, with 594&amp;nbsp;Veronans beating participants in five other cities to claim the title.&#xD;
The race for the record, organized to promote the release of&amp;nbsp;Guitar Hero 5, was kicked off in London by British pop star Pixie Lott, who also spent the day promoting the game on the modified double-decker bus.[image][image]&#xD;
Players in Stockholm, Madrid and Utrecht put in good efforts, but it was&amp;nbsp;Verona attempt, which&amp;nbsp;gathered more participants as the shops were closing, that managed to edge ahead in the last hours of the competition.&#xD;
An exciting and well-organized first attempt on the record,&amp;nbsp;the official Guinness World Records adjudicator, Aleksandr Vypirailenko&amp;nbsp;hopes it is the first of many Guitar Hero relays.[image]&#xD;

      <title>Longest line of scarves</title>
      <link>http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Longest-line-of-scarves/BLOG/628954/7691.html</link>
      <description>Longest line of scarves/neckerchiefs&amp;nbsp;- 29 August 2009&amp;nbsp;- Cuellar, Spain.&#xD;
A new Guinness World Record for the longest line of scarves/neckerchiefs has been set in the Medieval town of Cuellar, Spain, on 29 August 2009. Using 5,000 scarves and tying them together, local people as well as visitors to Cuellar, were able to construct a 2,932 metre 5 centimetre line, which surpassed the previous record by almost fourfold.&#xD;
[image]The record attempt was organised by a local group, &amp;lsquo;Pena el Embudo&amp;rsquo;, who celebrated their 10th Anniversary on the day.&amp;nbsp; The event was part of weeklong celebrations to mark traditions commenced in this historical town several centuries ago. The scarves were lined throughout the town, with every registered participant standing over his scarf, waiting to become part of yet another bit of history for Cuellar.&#xD;
Very hospitable and welcoming population of Cuellar were enjoying the occasion, despite having to wait for the measurements to take place.&amp;nbsp; Thousands of people lined the streets to witness and participate in the record attempt, cheering on the official Guinness World Records judge, Aleksandr Vypirailenko, who came to adjudicate the record attempt.&#xD;
[image]The event was very well organised and everything went according to plan on the day, despite a very late finish. It will take an extraordinary organisation and dedication from the next contender in order to beat this record.&#xD;
Once again &amp;ndash; congratulations to all of the people of Cuellar!&#xD;

      <title>Largest air guitar ensemble</title>
      <link>http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Largest-air-guitar-ensemble/BLOG/435978/7691.html</link>
      <description>The largest air guitar ensemble has proven to be one of the most popular records to be broken in the first summer months. This time it was achieved by Be Your Best UK Rock Challenge at the Sheffield Arena, in Sheffield, UK, on 11 July 2009. [image]&#xD;
With 1,261 screaming participants rocking it out for 1 min 50 sec, to "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters, the atmosphere was electric. Overseen by the former World Champion and Founder of Air Guitar UK, Zac Monro, all of the participants were able to get the first-hand experience of being taught by one of the world's best air guitarists. [image]&#xD;
What made the event truly special was the participants themselves &amp;ndash; mostly kids from several schools &amp;ndash; who made it their mission to achieve a new Guinness World Records&amp;trade; feat on this day of many activities and performances.&#xD;

      <title>Fastest 1,000 km on an aquabike (jetski)</title>
      <link>http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Fastest-1000-km-on-an-aquabike-jetski/BLOG/421307/7691.html</link>
      <description>Juan Felix Bravo Aguilar succeeded in setting a new Guinness World Records&amp;trade; record for the fastest 1,000 km on an aqua bike in just 10 hr, 9 min, at the San Juan marsh, San Martin de Valdeiglesias, Spain, on 3 July 2009.&#xD;
The record began at 6:00 a.m. on 3 July 2009, but this did not discourage a large number of supporters from coming to cheer on Juan Felix. The facilities, kindly provided for the guests by the Real Club Nautico de Madrid, proved to be a great viewing stage.&#xD;
[image]&#xD;
A lot of preparation had gone into making sure that everything was organized to perfection prior to the event. The 2-km (1.24-mile) circuit was marked with buoys.&amp;nbsp; Overall, Juan Felix had three aqua bikes available to him, though only one was to be used for the duration of the attempt. The See Doo Bombardier RXT-I proved to be a very reliable machine, not only working flawlessly at temperatures of 35&amp;deg;C (95&amp;deg;F), but on occasion reaching a peak speed of 112 km/h (70 mph).&amp;nbsp;&#xD;
[image]&#xD;
This perfect match of human will power and technology helped Juan Felix to achieve an incredible average of between 2 min, 21 sec and 2 min, 23 sec per completed lap, with his fastest lap coming in at 2 min 19 sec.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&#xD;
Stopping only to refuel, take on a quick snack and drink, Juan Felix did not rest and tried to set the record at no more than 10 hours, which demonstrated his dedication and focus. Although he came just short of his personal goal on the day, the attempt proved to be an amazing achievement, which will take a superhuman effort on the part of the next challenger to overcome.&#xD;
[image]&#xD;
The attempt was adjudicated by an official Guinness World Records judge, Aleksandr Vypirailenko, with help from expert witnesses from the Real Federacion Espanola de Motonautica: Alfonso Roman and Manuel Barroso.&#xD;

        <media:description>Celebrating its 25th anniversary on 16 June 2009, the world-renowned entertainment troupe Cirque Du Soleil managed to set a record for the most people walking on stilts in multiple venues. By meeting all the minimum requirements, 1,908 successful participants can now proudly call themselves Guinness World Records&amp;trade; record-holders.&#xD;
&amp;nbsp;[image]&#xD;
The event was received with much excitement around the world, with a great turnout of participants in Montreal, Moscow, New York, Las Vegas, Orlando, Macau and Brazil.
