While one chilling detail can help to create a movie thriller, several chilling details can create a thrilling Guinness World Records™ record for the Largest ice sculpture on the planet!
Over the course of a half week, a team of 14 Ice Bulb LLC ice sculptors used - according to event sources - over 60,327 kg (133,000 lb) of ice, gathered from across four U.S. States, to build the sculpture in the likeness of Ice Age's Scrat character.
The sculpture was built in approximartely 2000 man hours on the outdoor ice rink 'ICE at Downtown Santa Monica', to coincide with the release of the 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' Blu-day disc and DVD release.
Guinness World Records™ adjudicator Danny Girton Jr. was on hand to authenticate the record, after speaking with Ice Bulb project manager Marc Entin and civil engineer Paul Chretien about the ice sculpture’s construction and physical dimensions.

TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT SHATTERS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR TALLEST ICE SCULPTURE IN HONOR OF COOLEST SCRAT IN TOWN
Measuring In At A “Mammoth” 48 Feet Tall, The New Record Coincides With The Animated Adventure’s Blu-ray And DVD Release
LOS ANGELES, CA. (October 27, 2009) – Things got a little chilly in Southern California Tuesday as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment broke the Guinness World Record for Tallest
Ice Sculpture timed with the Blu-ray and DVD release of Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Sculpted by innovative ice company Ice Bulb, the 48-foot-8-inch creation, reaching over four stories high, broke the previous record by nearly 8 feet.
Officially unveiled at ICE at Santa Monica, Downtown Santa Monica’s outdoor ice skating rink, the project took months of collaboration to create, with artists from Blue Sky Studios developing the overall look of the ice sculpture depicting lovable squirrel Scrat and his giant acorn. Over 133,000 pounds of ice, gathered across four states, was used as a team of 14 skilled sculptors from Ice Bulb worked four straight days to finish the job.
“It’s only fitting that we build a record breaking Scrat Ice Sculpture to go along with the massively successful Ice Age franchise, and unveil it on the day that Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD,” said Mary Daily, Executive Vice President, Marketing, North America for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “It is just more reason to celebrate.”
The previous record for Tallest Ice Sculpture of 40.28 feet was held by Michel Amman in Ski Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates on April 20, 2006. This new record was verified by Guinness World Records official, Danny Girton Jr. who was on-site to inspect the sculpture.
“The effort and workmanship that went into creating this ice sculpture is truly astounding. This type of record takes serious time and commitment and we’re happy to recognize a new Guinness World Record today,” Girton said.
The coolest animated comedy of the year, the Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs Three-Disc Combo Pack (Blu-ray, DVD and a Digital Copy) is available now and provides hours of extra fun for the entire family including an Ice Age digital story book maker, commentary by director Carlos Saldanha, deleted scenes, making-of featurettes, two special Scrat shorts, a how-to-draw Scrat tutorial with the filmmakers and much more.

SONY PICTURES ANIMATION’S CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS BREAKS GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® RECORD FOR WORLD’S LARGEST MEATBALL!
CANCÚN, Mexico, August 4, 2009 – With Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Sony Pictures Animation’s mouth-watering 3-D animated event, about to hit theatres worldwide, the world’s largest meatball ever created has also descended. The announcement was made today by Hannah Minghella, president of production for Sony Pictures Animation, Inc., and Carlos Martinez, adjudicator, Guinness World Records.
The meatball, weighing in at 49.5 kg, or 109 lbs., was cooked up by the chefs at The Ritz Carlton in Cancún, Mexico, to promote the upcoming animated film, in which a budding inventor causes food to fall from the sky like rain. The Hotel’s Executive chef Rainer Zinngrebe along with banquet chef Aldo Novoa accomplished the appetizing feat, surpassing a previous record set in 2008 that stood at 32.93 kg, or 72 lbs., 9 oz. The new record was confirmed by Martinez, and after the record was confirmed, the meatball was cut up into normal-sized portions and served to everyone at the record-setting event.
Commenting on the announcement, Hannah Minghella, president of production for Sony Pictures Animation, said, “During the production of this movie we had a lot of fun creating the look, texture and sounds of the giant-sized meatballs (among other foods) that Flint makes rain from the sky... and now we know what they taste like.”
“We apply very strict criteria to our records,” said Guinness World Records’ Carlos Martinez. “In this particular case, not only did the meatball have to beat the standing record, but also be fully cooked and edible, as verified by myself and food and health inspectors present at the event. Guinness World Records takes pride in its high standards, and as a result, not every record attempt is successful!”
Aspiring inventor Flint Lockwood is the socially awkward genius behind some of the most bizarre contraptions ever conceived. But even though all of his inventions, from spray-on shoes to a monkey thought translator, have been spectacular failures that caused trouble in his small town, Flint is determined to create something that will make people happy. When Flint’s latest machine, designed to turn water into food, accidentally destroys the town square and rockets up into the clouds, he thinks his inventing career is over. Until something amazing happens – cheeseburgers start raining from the sky. His machine actually works! The food weather is an instant success, and Flint forges a fast friendship with Sam Sparks, the weathergirl who comes to town to cover what she calls “the greatest weather phenomenon in history.” But when people greedily ask for more and more food, the machine starts behaving erratically, unleashing spaghetti tornadoes and giant meatballs. With the town about to be buried beneath mountains of marshmallows and waves of watermelons, it’s up to Flint and Sam to use their combined expertise to shut down the machine and put everything right.

Wednesday 1st July - Voices for a Better World are planning to smash a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Ever Singing Lesson”, which currently stands at 500. The show will see a staggering 4,700 school children and a live orchestra to perform 34 Beatles tracks, including Ticket to Ride, A Hard Day's Night and Can't Buy Me Love.
Celebrity names from the world of performing arts have confirmed to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt including comic legends Bill Bailey and Kevin Eldon who will perform a star duet; plus Eastenders star Cheryl Ferguson, Hollyoaks’ Tony Hirst and Elaine Glover, Britain’s Got Talent finalists (2008) Nemisis, child prodigy Kway from BBC’s “I will do anything” and Birmingham’s next big thing, Sick City Club.
The Long and Winding Road promises to be a breathtaking show that will sell out The O2 arena where thousands of people will come to watch and listen to 4,200 young voices and 500 young dancers – all seeking to inspire the audience and communicate the need for world change.
Celebrity names from the world of performing arts have confirmed to take part in the show including comic legends Bill Bailey and Kevin Eldon who will perform a star duet; plus EastEnders star Cheryl Ferguson, Hollyoaks’ Tony Hirst and Elaine Glover, Britain’s Got Talent finalists (2008) Nemesis, child prodigy Kway from BBC’s “I will do anything” and Birmingham’s next big thing, Sick City Club.
The purpose of this magnificent event is to raise substantial funds and awareness for dedicated children’s charities Global Angels and Arts by Children - two international organisations that work at a grass-root level to support the needs of children in around the world.
Voices for a Better World provides children and young adults with a great stage to channel their creative energy and providing opportunities for children is more important now than it has ever been. Research has shown that music directly enhances learning and spatial development, with beneficial effects on other subjects like Maths and English.
Voices for a Better World is the brainchild of Kevin Dowsett, Artistic Director of Theatretrain. Renowned for teaching drama and theatrics to some of today’s most popular figures including Catherine Tate, Martine McCutheon and Russell Brand, said:
“Today's news continually covers the sad and drastic state that our world is in from third world poverty, environmental issues to crime on the streets of Britain. Voices for a Better World is a stunning showcase, which aims to give children an outlet and a chance to express themselves. Thousands of young children singing in one voice - what better and powerful way is there to communicate the need for change?”
This ground breaking event, which gives children an unsurpassable opportunity to perform at one of the world’s most acclaimed music venues will be conducted and arranged by the legendary Robert Hyman, and promises to be one of the best Beatles cover concerts yet.
The performance features school children aged between 10 and 14 years old from London and the South East. The way in which the children prepare for the performance is equally as challenging as they only have a CD of the songs and 2 rehearsals in which to learn and practice.
The O2 arena, what is now one of the most popular and vibrant venues in the world plays host to the first of many concerts planned around the UK with future planned events throughout the UK.
This magical event provides a perfect evening out for families, Beatles fans, theatre- goers and other children aspiring to perform on a stage of such magnitude. Tickets are now on sale from as little as £20 from Ticketmaster and See Tickets, with all proceeds going to registered charities Arts by Children and Global Angels.
Well known celebrities from the world of acting and music have begun to dedicate their support, and Global Angels ambassador and singer song writer, Natasha Bedingfield, said:
"Music is a universal language. It is extremely important for kids to get involved in music, to realise that everyone has a voice; something to say that makes a difference to everyone around. This event gives them a chance to express themselves in a positive way by helping other people in the process.”

How it Works
4700 young people will join together in harmony to sing 34 Beatles songs accompanied by a live orchestra and celebrity guests. Each young person will receive two CDs with which they practice at home. Over the course of at least 12 weeks all the songs are learnt and practiced together. There is also a DVD and moves are learnt to go with the songs. It’s hard work but also a lot of fun and when 4700 young people sing and perform together the thrill is guaranteed to send a tingle up your spine!
Dogs from across the capital, with their owners in tow, went walkies into the Guinness World Records book yesterday (Monday 15 June) when they broke the record for the loudest bark in history.
From pedigree pooches to mixed bred mutts, 52 dogs of all shapes and sizes converged on Finsbury Park to follow in the pawprints of fictional superdog Bolt – the new Disney hero whose comedy adventure launched on Blu-ray and DVD yesterday.
And far from making a dog’s dinner of taking the title from the current American holders, the Brits’ collective bark rose to 115 decibels, four decibels louder than the existing record set in Vermont, USA, last year.
Top dog at Guinness World Records Marco Frigatti was on hand to oversee the record attempt and declared the attempt a success.
He said: “Dogs bark for a variety of reasons, to attract attention or to express excitement. Today they barked to become Guinness World Record holders – congratulations!”
White German Shepherd and Bolt lookalike ‘Daz Lightning’ also broke the world record for the loudest ever individual bark with a woof of 108 decibels.
Bolt’s super bark is especially impressive on the high-definition Blu-ray disc which not only delivers five times the picture quality of DVD but also unbelievable sound.
Academy Award nominated BOLT (2008, Best Animated Feature Film) is the first Disney feature to be conceived and produced under the guidance of Oscar®-winning director John Lasseter - the studio’s Chief Creative Officer and the brains behind Toy Story, A Bug’s Life and Cars.
Voiced by two times Academy Award nominee John Travolta, Bolt is the star of the biggest show in Hollywood. The only problem is, he thinks the whole thing is real. When the super dog is accidentally shipped to New York City and separated from Penny - voiced by Miley Cyrus - his beloved co-star and owner, Bolt springs into action to find his way home.
Together with his hilarious new sidekicks Rhino – Bolt’s #1 Fan – and a street-smart cat named Mittens, Bolt sets off on an amazing journey where he discovers he doesn’t need super powers to be a hero.
Don’t miss Bolt’s great adventure on Disney Blu-ray and DVD now.
